Creating Hope

THROUGH ACTION

SUICIDE PREVENTION AWARENESS MONTH

Suicide is a serious public health problem. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, a person commits suicide every 11 minutes in the United States, making it a leading cause of death in this country – especially among teens and young adults.

On September 7, South Texas Health System® Behavioral invites you to help shine a light on suicide prevention by writing messages of hope along our Chalk the Walk route. This special awareness walk and You’re Not Alone fair will highlight local organizations and resources available to help with behavioral health and wellness concerns.

Prior to the walk, you are encouraged to spread hope throughout the community by writing messages of hope at your own home. Share them on social media using the hashtag #STHSChalkTheWalk and tag us at @STXHealthSystem. Throughout the month, South Texas Health System will repost selected messages.
