Creating Hope Through Action

suicide prevention awareness month

It’s a startling statistic: one person commits suicide every 11 minutes in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Suicide is a leading cause of death in the U.S., especially among teens and young adults.

This World Suicide Prevention Day, South Texas Health System Behavioral invites you to help shine a light on suicide prevention by writing your messages of hope along our Chalk the Walk route during our special Hope & Inspiration walk and You’re Not Alone community fair, which will feature local organizations and resources available to help you or a loved one with any mental health and wellness concerns.

Prior to the walk, you are encouraged to spread hope throughout the community by writing a message of hope in your own community and sharing it on social media. Please use the hashtag #STHSChalkTheWalk and tag us at @STXHealthSystem when posting photos of your chalk messages. Throughout the month, South Texas Health System will repost them to help spread hope and inspiration.
